Behind the Burner

Trisha reviews the website Behind the Burner, run by Brown Girl Divya Gugnani.

Behind the Burner is a culinary blog with expert-based content about food, wine, mixology and nutrition. Creator Divya Gugnani earned an MBA at Harvard Business School and worked as a venture capitalist before starting the website.

Behind the Burner packages tips, tricks, and techniques from a network of over 500 master chefs to create behind-the-scene culinary knowledge. With so much to share about food, Gugnani’s site won over my stomach, even though I have a mere interest in cooking. Watching the quick videos about healthy food tips are my favorite feature because it gives very realistic ideas on how to eat smart. Gugnani focuses not only on food, but the essential utensils that give your kitchen a decorative look, while guaranteeing tasty results each time.

With hundreds of cooking sites available, what makesGugnani’s site any different? She travels all over the states and the world to meet with hundreds of chefs, who have various tastes in food and styles of cooking. Short videos are put together as Gugnani cooks with the chef to create the specific dish. This allows the fans to build a connection with the chef as he or she breaks down the recipe with tips and facts about the dish, as well as its background.

Recipes aren’t the only tips Gugnani gives to her audience. She has simpler advice for everyday use, such as, how to open a champagne bottle easily, how to easily separate eggs, or how to prepare an instant party platter to use to serve cheese.

I recommend Behind the Burner as a fun resource for young professional women who are trying to balance a career and healthy lifestyle.
