Founded in 2008, Brown Girl is the premier women’s publication tailored for and targeted to young South Asian women raised in the United States. Brown Girl hopes to be an outlet where South Asian women can express their ideas, learn more about their culture, and build respect for themselves. At Brown Girl, you’ll find a variety of pertinent topics covering career, beauty and style, news, and entertainment.

Our tagline says it all: Smart. Hip. Beautiful. Through features, interviews, stories, and discussion, we hope to create a community that helps young women see their strengths, develop self-confidence, and learn a little more about being a South Asian woman.

Our vision will always come back to Smart. Hip. Beautiful. Every post will focus on making our reader feel smart. hip. beautiful. We plan on doing it, by creating content that is important, inspirational, and educational yet provides entertainment.
Furthermore, all of the articles featured on the Brown Girl website are written by the same young women who would read the magazine. Our writers know what’s important to South Asian women between the ages of 17 and 24, and find unique, exciting ways to share the information. Our website is designed specifically to be inviting and energetic to encourage our readers to explore the site and easily express their ideas and opinions.
