So, without further adieu, we present to you the first fairytale wedding for you to relish in its complete band, baaja, baraat affair—and all in beautiful Bali!
Jab We Met
Enter Ayisha and Jekin, the bride and her bridegroom. In the midst of the hustle-bustle of everyday life, they managed to find love and companionship. Ask Aiysha how the two met, and this is what she says:
“Jekin and I have actually known each other since we were kids, as we both grew up in Fiji where our families have known each other for three generations. Due to our five and a half year age gap however, I was never ‘cool enough’ to hang out with Jekin. It wasn’t until nine years later, when we were finally introduced. Most of our friends and family get together in Fiji for two week Christmas and New Years celebration. I was returning from the US, where I was pursuing my degree in Biology and Jekin was visiting from Papua New Guinea, as he was working for one of his family businesses at the time.”

And it definitely didn’t end there as the bride reminisces:
“Exactly a year after we were re-introduced, we met again at the same place—but this time, there was a spark. We couldn’t help but hang out until New Years Eve. As the fireworks erupted along the beach, Jekin asked me to be his girlfriend. Of course I said yes.”

And alas, it was here—the day every girl dreams of (aside from her wedding day). Jekin popped the question, and of course the giddy bride-to-be said YES! But let’s rewind and get the details of the proposal from Ayisha herself:
“Jekin had booked a weekend away for the two of us. I still remember it was a cloudy day, with drizzling rain. He picked me up that morning after which we went white water rafting. I loved every moment of it and credit to Jekin, as he knows I love outdoor sports. Afterwards, we were supposed to be heading to our hotel but out of the blue, Jekin wanted to stop at a beach.
It was still cold and rainy (not exactly going to plan), so when Jekin asked me to go for a walk down the beach I was confused. After some quick thinking he came up with a story about being interested in a beachfront property, so I agreed. After walking down the beach in the rain for a couple of minutes, Jekin stopped and asked me if I would ‘be his best friend forever?’. Confused, I replied, ‘what’s wrong with you?’. He asked again and eventually I said, ‘Yes’. Before I knew it, he got down on one knee. Shocked and speechless, I said ‘Oh shit!’. He popped the real question and after a slight pause I said yes.
We walked a couple of more meters and there was a path of flowers leading in to the villa on the beach. There were candles lit all around the room, a string of our photos hung from the bed, heart shaped flower arrangements on the floor, and a bottle of vintage Dom Perignon next to the bed. It was perfect. We spent the weekend at the villa soaking in the moment until we met up with the family the following day to celebrate.”

“Get a really good wedding planning team that’s well established, trust worthy and understands your vision for each event. Be organised. Good photographers, planners, venues get booked out in advance. And most importantly, have fun! At the end of the day, it would be a very expensive party to stress over. Enjoy the moments as they’ll be lifetime memories.”

The bride and groom were all set to take their vows. With a fusion wedding under full way, Aiysha and Jekin prepared for a soft and elegant, yet glamorous wedding. Everything from the outfits to the memorable party favors were a custom fit to the theme the couple was vying for. Both the traditional and civil ceremonies created an aura of wonder and awe, and this bride couldn’t have been happier! Her vendors did an impeccable job at making her dream come true!
