I am excited to finally share my homemade Mexican Pizza recipe with you guys! I can’t believe it took me this long. This was one of the most requested recipes based off of what I share on my Instagram stories!
Now that you have my recipe, I just want to share that the way I make it can be modified in ANY way you’d like. And that goes for which sauce you use, which cheese you prefer, and however, you like to make your beans. I’ve probably received more than a hundred messages on which tortillas I use, and I hate to disappoint, but I only use Azteca brand tortillas. If you live in NJ/NY/PA, you most likely will not find them. My cousin actually brings a bunch of them back for us when she goes to Chicago because they sell them over there! So, if you happen to live where they sell them, THOSE are the tortillas you want to fry for this recipe. An alternative is to just go to Taco Bell and ask to buy their Mexican Pizza shells! We used to do it all the time and it ends up being less work for you. It’s a win-win situation!

Another major question I was asked is about the sauce I use, I literally use TACO BELL HOT SAUCE that comes in the bottles from Walmart! If you haven’t bought these, you need to get up and go to the store right now.
I typically only microwave them because I don’t like waiting for the oven to heat up. We usually ALWAYS have the shells fried and ready to use in a container, and Mexican ingredients in the fridge, so putting these together takes five minutes. In that case, I ain’t waitin’ for the oven to warm up. Nope. sorry.
You can make your beans however you’d like, but I’ve shared my exact way with you! Please tag me in any photos you take of your Mexican Pizza so I can see how yours turn out!

INGREDIENTS
- 12 flour tortillas
- 1 green bell pepper finely diced
- 2 cups Mexican cheese shredded
- 2 green onions finely sliced
- 1 bottle taco bell hot sauce
- 2 chilies
DIRECTIONS
Tortilla
-
If you are frying Azteca tortillas, warm up enough oil in a large pot so the tortilla can be submerged.
-
Cut a few slits in the tortillas and fry until golden brown. Once they are done, take them out and let them cool off on a paper towel.
Beans
-
In a small pot, warm up your oil on medium heat. Add in the white onion and jalapeno. Let it cook for about 1-2 minutes.
-
Then add in your garlic, salsa, and taco seasoning. Mix well.
-
Add in your refried beans, and add water so the beans soften up. I usually add up to 1/2 cup of water, but you can do it based off of your preference.
Assembling Mexican Pizzas
-
On your bottom shell, add about 1/4 cup of the beans.
-
Add a drizzle of hot sauce, spread all over, and add some cheese. Close it up with the top shell.
-
Add about 3 tbsp of the taco bell sauce on top of each Mexican pizza.
-
Sprinkle with 1/4 cup of cheese on top. Add some bell peppers, chilies and green onions.
