India’s power couple, Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma, took the internet by storm when the pictures of their private wedding ceremony, held on December 11, 2017, came out. This wedding was not just #goals—it was purely drool-worthy. The best accessory on both of them was their consistent smile that made us adore the couple even more. From the intimate ceremony to the lavish color coordination, Virushka’s wedding set major trends this wedding season.
Of course, the destination was purely magical for the perfect jodi, but what caught my attention the most was the Sabyasachi love affair that persisted throughout the festivities, and it went something like this:
1. The Scoring Engagement

Absolutely regal. Velvet surely made a comeback this winter, and Sharma carried it in the most extravagant way possible. Sabyasachi’s Gulkand Burgundy rose velvet saree complimented the backdrop of the engagement, effortlessly. The actress’ look was exemplified with the mini pearls and heavy zardosi that were hand embroidered into the ensemble. The outfit was paired with a pearl and uncut diamond choker and matching round earrings from Sabyasachi’s collection. To complete her elegant look, the “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil” star stunned with heavy kajal, fresh red roses in her sleek bun, and what the designer calls an “iconic microdot bindi.” Her handsome beau stood tall beside her in blue and sure did finish the royal-yet-chic appearance of the function.
2. The Mehendi: Best Bowling
Oh boy, oh boy! The quirky theme of “Band Baaja Baraat” was written all over #Virushka’s colorful mehendi in the midst of snowy Italy. The bright colors, worn by both Kohli and Sharma, definitely matched their fun personalities. Sharma’s ensemble is a must-have for girls looking for a sangeet outfit out on a sunny day. A floral sixties crop top contrasted with that fuschia and dark yellow/orange handwoven silk lehenga was the perfect choice for this event. I loved how she decided to keep the makeup a minimal and let the vibrant outfit do all the talking. The glowing movie star seemed to prefer having a middle part throughout the wedding events, and she did so very charmingly. These long, gold jhumkas from the Sabyasachi Heritage Jewelry collection had uncut diamonds, Japanese pearls, and Iranian turquoise embellishments. The renowned cricketer also rocked his look with grace and poise; Kohli sported a white khadi kurta churidaar and a Nehru jacket with Sabyasachi House blazer buttons. Matching the color on his bride-to-be’s outfit did complete justice to the whole appearance. Of course, it goes without saying that the beautiful mehendi on her hands was the best accessory of all.
3. The Shaadi: A Hatrick by Sabyasachi

No, unfortunately, Ranbir Kapoor was not singing “Channa Mereya” as we all would imagine. However, all eyes kept on staring. All jaws dropped.
If you watched the video of the ceremony, you have probably replayed it a couple of times just to see Sharma live her princess moment. As she walked towards the mandap, where her groom-to-be was patiently waiting for his flawless bride, the perfect song was playing in the background.

The bride and groom stunned in Sabyasachi (once again), and I mean stunned. The couple graced their wedding day with dusty pink outfits and a whole lot of love in their eyes. The gushing bride donned a pink and gold lehenga with floral embroidery while her beau wore an ivory raw silk sherwani. Real flower garlands enhanced the lively atmosphere of the wedding. This beauty’s jewelry was also made by Sabyasachi. Again, she was seen sporting a mini-bindi, making it a trendy statement. Like we saw at her engagement, the doll wore fresh flowers in her hair, again. Her choora showed how modern brides could be ever-so traditional, graceful, and stylish. While they exchanged the garlands, the ring was noticeable—and wow, is it every girls’ dream or what!?

However, above every outfit, accessory, and arrangement, what made these nuptials the wedding of the year are surely Sharma and Kholi’s precious smiles; their bright faces totally made us go awwww, and our hearts melt.
On a side note (to account for new trends), their wedding invitation perfectly matched the theme of this event: Pastels, flowers, and nothing but simplicity, and all of this at the dreamy countryside resort in Italy.
Glamorous without shouting all that glam, indeed. A winter wedding with all the spring florals. Virushka proved that all this could be done. Take a look!
4. The Delhi Reception: Couple of the Match
#Virushka flew back home after their honeymoon to host one of the two receptions for friends and family in Delhi, India. The newly-weds also welcomed the Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi to join them. Thus, the dress code was ideal. The dapper groom, and ace cricketer, Kohli, wore a black sherwani with a statement shawl; the bride appeared traditionally splendid in a Banarasi saree and heavy gold jewelry. She modeled a thick sindoor on her sleek hairdo, serving looks as the quintessential Indian bride. Don’t overlook the gajra on her, simply marvelous!
You’ll probably find videos of their bhangra dance on this day, and it is pure #couplegoals. Their wedding is the perfect example of modern and fun, yet traditional and intimately simple.
5. The Star-Studded Reception in Mumbai

Wowzers! The end of #Virushka’s wedding celebrations was completely magnificent. From her hairstyle to her outfit, Sharma was nothing but jazzy. Her lehenga was full of sequins, silver thread, and flowers. Sabyasachi’s Bengal Tiger Belt on her waist stole the show, indefinitely. The leading lady’s look included handcrafted earrings and a dazzling diamond necklace. While her athlete husband wasn’t seen wearing Sabyasachi, he looked sharp in that Raghavendra Rathore velvet jacket. The attractive couple made heads turn at this grand occasion, wrapping up their band-baaja-wedding saga on December 26, 2017.

There is no doubt that this wedding will be remembered for a long, long time. Not only because of the awe-inspiring combos, wedding decor/location, and incredible outfits and accessories, but also because of the ideal perfection that they are as a couple. I think it’s also safe to make one last proclamation before signing off: #Virushka and Sabyasachi, NOT OUT!
