Most of the time we see roses used for decorative purposes or gifts, but what if I told you that rose water could be the secret beauty ingredient to add to your skincare regimen?

The use of rose water is an ancient, natural beauty ritual that has managed to withstand the test of time. It was believed that the famous queen of Egypt, Cleopatra, was one of the biggest advocates of the healing and beautifying qualities for rose water.

Not only does it smell amazing but it helps to tone, soften skin and give you a natural healthy glow.

The best part? Rose water is often available at most grocery stores and costs about $5.

Here is a list of how rose water can spruce up your beauty and skincare routine!

1. Skin Toning

Rose water can serve as a skin toner with anti-bacterial properties minus all of the chemicals. Its properties can reduce bacteria on skin, decrease inflammation, and simultaneously hydrate skin. Just use a cotton saturated in rose water (mixed with water to dilute it) and use as a toner—it instantly soothes your skin and somehow makes it more even.

2. Hydrated Glow

The extremity of seasons can have a large impact on our skin. Rose water can help care for that. Simply mist some on your face (or you can also apply it using a cotton pad) and your skin will instantly feel more hydrated and fresh. The astringent properties of rose water help to tighten and brighten the skin for a dewy glow.

3. Cleanser

Rose water can be used as a cleanser to remove dirt and oil from deep within the skin. Not only does rose water assist in removing residue from your face but it will also nourish your skin deeply.

4. Treat Sunburn

Rose water can also cool, soothe and heal your skin from sun damage. Add a little rose water into your moisturizer or spritz some after sun exposure to instantly feel relief.

5. Dark Circles and Puffiness

Rose water can help soften dark spots and puffy eyes without irritation. Next time you wake up with puffy eyes, don’t freak out! Soak a few cotton pads in some rose water and apply around your eyes for five minutes. It will instantly help reduce any puffiness or discoloration and make you look more rejuvenated.

6. Clear Acne

Rose water can help to subdue and clear acne (not just on your face but your whole body), while also helping to fade acne scars that have been left behind. To fight severe acne, just crack an uncoated aspirin, toss it into a diluted mix of rose water and apply on the affected areas with a cotton pad.

7. Aromatherapy

Mist rose water on your sheets and the aroma can help to relax and calm you for better sleep.

8. Hair Mist

Rose water is really a natural moisturizer that can reinstate your hair. Spritz some rose water on your hair to help tame frizz.

The uses for rose water are literally endless—it’s a must for every girl to have!
