Throughout the years, my mom and I have tried several different versions of pizza dough. While most of them turned out pretty good, there was something missing. I finally resorted to looking up a recipe online on @buzzfeedtasty and made the dough with the exact measurements. As I made it a few more times, I tweaked it to better suit myself. So, I cannot take full credit for this recipe, but I definitely did put my own spin on it.

Be patient with the dough…

GOOD pizza dough needs some time to rise, and each time I tried this recipe, I let it rise anywhere between 18 and 22 hours. I highly recommend making this the night before, so you have ample amount of time to let the dough do its thing.

Pizza Sauce

I used Sambar Kitchen’s Pizza & Pasta Sauce for this recipe because it’s seasoned so well, and it’s the perfect amount of fusion I am always craving. It includes bite-sized pieces of paneer, and it’s seasoned with a ton of homemade Indian spices. I honestly really enjoyed this sauce, and I’ve been using it on several dishes! I also used this sauce in my Spaghetti Grilled Cheese post, which has been a HUGE hit!

Toppings on your pizza

I’m a sucker for jalapeno and garlic on my pizza, but this is the time to get creative. Throw on all of the veggies you want to use up! Besides jalapeno and garlic, I love a full-on veggie pie with mushrooms, onions, spinach, tomatoes, jalapenos, garlic, and olives. If you want to go sweet and savory, pineapple and jalapeno is my go-to!

INSTRUCTIONS

Pizza Dough

  • Take warm water and combine it with the sugar and the yeast. Mix well and let it sit for 10 minutes, or until you see the yeast bubble.
  • Mix your all-purpose flour, salt, crushed red pepper flakes, garlic powder, oregano, and black pepper in a large bowl.
  • Make a little hole in the middle of your combined flour, and pour in your olive oil, followed by the yeast water. Mix with a spoon until ingredients start to combine a little.
  • At this point, start kneading the dough with your hands on a clean surface. You will need to knead it for about 15 minutes until it is smooth. Have some extra flour and oil and use along the way if it is too sticky.
  • Take another bowl, grease the insides and add your dough in there. Add a light layer of oil on the dough as well. Let it sit, covered with plastic wrap for as little as six hours, or up to 18 hours.
  • When you are ready to use the dough, punch it and knead it for another minute. Cut into equal portions and shape it into balls. Let this rest for about 30 minutes under a towel.

Assembling the Pizza

  • When ready, pre-heat oven to the HIGHEST setting and put your pizza tray or pizza stone in there too, so it warms up while you prepare the pizzas.
  • Take your dough and stretch/press until you get the desired thickness all around. DO not roll the dough.
  • When your oven is ready, take some cornflour and sprinkle it right on top of the pan or the stone. Put your pizza dough on there, and add some sauce, cheese, and any toppings desired.
  • Put it back into the oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese has melted.
  • Cut into equal parts, garnish with herbs, and ENJOY!

This recipe yields four personal pizzas for about four people, but you can make two larger ones if you want to make larger pies.
