6 Must-Bookmark Looks From Sabyasachi’s Latest Spring/Summer Collection

Sabyasachi Mukherjee drops his new bridal Spring/Summer collection and boy, it does not disappoint. From fuss-free kaftans and togas to vibrant khadi bridal lehengas and THE red lehenga Priyanka Chopra Jonas wore at her Indian wedding, this collection is set to dominate wedding mood boards this season. Mukherjee’s newest collection, titled “FIZA,” is filled with earthy neutrals and sorbet hues that are perfect for every contemporary bride.

Before getting into the top looks of this radiant collection, let’s address what’s been happening in and around the social media world: There has been a lot of controversy surrounding the designer’s latest iconic blouse design—specifically the low cleavage. Comments on social media range from the blouse being deemed as “too revealing” to it representing “women empowerment.”

At the end of the day, fashion is art and art is an expression. There is no difference in an impressionistic painting and a cloth so beautifully created. They both inspire and evoke emotion. This stance towards a more modern blouse, in this progressive era, advocates for women freedom, women aspiration and women achievement.

Sabyasachi creates a potent and timeless image with his new collection—traditional designs with a modern and whimsical twist. From the luxurious jewelry, chintz floral, plunging necklines and dark smokey eye look, this collection is what dreams are made of.

Take a look at some of our favorite outfits from the new collection—be right back! Gotta go start planning my wedding.

1. Earthy Tones

While brown, greens and beiges aren’t typically your go-to colors for wedding outfits, Mukherjee’s new collection begs to differ. These earthy tones, paired with a low-cut blouse, opulent jewelry, and a sheer dupatta, give the piece a subtle-yet-classy look. If you can afford this at your wedding, I’d say it’d be the perfect bridesmaid look.

2. Intricate Pastels

The first thing that comes to my mind when I think about Spring is pastels. These pastel-colored lehengas are everything. With intricate embroidery and a long veil, these are essential for every bride-to-be. Even jewelry is minimal on the models with this part of the collection because of how much detail the dress has to offer.

3. Neons

Is it the ’80s again? Because Mukherjee is bringing neon back, and that too in Indian bridal wear. These beautiful hand-embroidered lehengas, with the signature plunge neck blouse, come in electrifying colors of pink, yellow, orange, and red. This is one of his favorite pieces of the collection. Talking about the same, the celebrated designer wrote: “As a bridal designer, I keep thinking ‘what’s next?’ and I keep coming back to khadi. Again and again. It is sophisticated, cultural and powerful. For me, khadi is equivalent to wellness and nothing can be more luxurious than that.”

4. Day-Time Whites

The asymmetrical kaftan and lehenga combo, that gives a toga vibe, is perfect for any day-time wedding affair. Paired with heavy jewelry in neutral tones, this twirl-friendly outfit screams “LET IT BE SUMMER!”

5. Jewel Tones

The famous designer is known for his iconic blouse patterns, and this corset-like design is another one he can add to the list. If you’re going for a more royal look, this embellished khalidar lehenga is stunning. I absolutely love the leopard belt at the waist and how majestic the emerald green is.

We all refreshed our Instagram every five seconds to see what was happening next in the infamous Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas wedding. One outfit that blew us all away was the showstopper rouge lehenga that Mrs. Jonas wore for her Udaipur nuptials. So, without further adieu, here it is as part of Mukherjee’s latest Spring/Summer Collection.
