Five Ways to Stay on Top of Your Fitness Goals for 2019

‘Tis the Season to reevaluate your goals, health, and everything in between. But more often than not, New Year’s resolutions are set and always end up falling through. Here are some tips to help avoid your fitness goals from stalling the rest of this year!

1. Set Attainable Goals

This goes without saying but more often than not people do not set realistic goals, and that’s why they end up falling through. Set a goal that is a small step up from what you do currently. If you don’t work out at all try setting a goal to get to the gym two times a week. If you work out two times a week right now then aim for three or four.

2. Reevaluate Goals After January

If you set a goal to workout three times a week and by the end of January you are only hitting one to two times a week, maybe reevaluate and change your goal to twice instead. It’s important to be able to make changes and adjust as needed without being hard on yourself!

3. It’s More Than Just a Workout

Fitness and health goals don’t have to be just about working out – they can be about eating too. You can set a goal to eat two low carb meals a week or one no carb dinner a week. Working on your diet can also be useful when it comes to fitness and is also a way to set attainable goals.

4. Use the Buddy System

When working on yourself accountability can get a little tricky. A great way to ensure success with your goals is having a partner to do them with. You can hold each other accountable and lift each other’s spirits! From taking workout classes to healthy cooking together, having someone by your side is a great way to stick to accomplish what you want.

5. Be Flexible

You can’t turn on a switch and overnight become healthier and fitter than you’ve ever been – and that’s okay. Take your goals day by day and be flexible with yourself. Give yourself a chance to mold into a new routine and don’t get down on yourself if it’s difficult at first.

Remember – this is YOUR year! You got this. Best of luck in your goal setting!
