Falling in Love With Learning After Formal Education

We, as a collective society, view education as a simple necessity to get us something—career progression, higher pay, etc. However, we forget that education is a means to connect with our world. Every ounce of new knowledge yields further proximity to understanding our surroundings. Education helps us understand ourselves, new people, beautiful cultures, languages and places. With more knowledge, we see things from different lenses, creating a more authentic and holistic picture of our world. School and work often force education upon us, but we must value it beyond simply giving us an exemplary mark at school or a good work evaluation. Unfortunately, education isn’t always easily accessible for many people, even though it is necessary to become a well-rounded and empathetic global citizen. Education is priceless and extends way past the requirements of our school systems and workplaces.

Education

Read a narrative when not mandated
Nurture a love for a learning
Follow your passions
They may turn
One day,
Into your earnings

Acquaint with the world
Perhaps even amend it
Discern something
You once couldn’t

But now can name it

Learn
And share
Flourish
And become aware

Proceed by life
As if you are riding a bike

Stay balanced
And true
Keep moving
With the flow

You will always reap
What you choose to sew
