Mayura Iyer is a teacher, writer, and education policy activist who serves as the co-Guest Submissions Editor for Brown Girl Magazine. She was raised in the D.C. area but currently lives in Mexico, serving as a Fulbright Scholar. She received her Master’s degree in Public Policy from the University of Virginia in 2016 and her Master’s in ESL Education from Southern Methodist University in 2018. Her caffeine and Taco Bell-fueled rantings have also been published in the Huffington Post and Mic.com. She hopes to use her love of writing and her passion for policy to elevate marginalized voices and advocate for other brown girls.
